36th Youth National Basketball Championship: Kerela girls & Haryana boys crowned as Champions

Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu played host to the 36th edition of the annual Youth National Basketball Championships. 

The Haryana state team were crowned champions in the boys' category while the Kerela state team clinched the girls' division. 

Haryana clinched the championship by defeating the Kerela boys squad 81-74. 

Sahil Taya, who was named the best player (boys) award for the tournament, top-scored for Haryana with 39 points.

Here's a look at the final standings of the top three spots in both the boys and girls category:


 

The Kerela girls defeated their counterparts from Tamil Nadu by outscoring them 80-69. 

Ann Mary Zachariah, who was also presented with the best player (girls) award for the tournament, was the top scorer for the Kerela squad with 40 points in the Final. 

Ann Mary received the Most Improved Player award at the second NBA Academy India Women’s camp held from January 22-25, 2019. She was also one of four girls who were selected to participate in the NCAA Next Generation Showcase program in Tampa, Florida.
