Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward (ankle) returns to bubble

Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward has returned to the bubble and entered his four-day quarantine.

Hayward, who suffered a Grade 3 ankle sprain in the Celtics' first game of the playoffs, had left the bubble for rehabilitation, parlayed with his previously planned exit for the birth of his child.

The former All-Star is three weeks through his expected four-to-six-week recovery from his ankle injury.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens does not expect Hayward to return to play "anytime soon," and TNT's Rebecca Haarlow reported on Friday that "the team says he will not play in (the Raptors) series but is making progress."

Hayward was enjoying a strong comeback season averaging 17.5 points, a career-high 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game shooting 50.0% from the field and 38.3% from 3-point range, and had played well in the bubble prior to spraining his ankle.

The Celtics will look to close out their series with the Raptos in Game 6 on Thursday, Sept. 10.
