Donovan Mitchell injury update: Utah Jazz All-Star guard will play in Game 2 vs. Memphis Grizzlies

The Utah Jazz will be getting a much-needed boost in Game 2 when they welcome All-Star Donovan Mitchell back into the lineup.

The team today announced that Mitchell, who has been sidelined since suffering a sprained ankle on April 16, will be available to play in Game 2 of its first-round series with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Utah, which posted the league's best record of 52-20 this past season, went 10-6 to close the season in Mitchell's absence. After Mitchell was a late scratch ahead of Game 1, the Jazz suffered a three-point loss to Memphis, relinquishing the home court advantage it worked for all season.

Mitchell, who has made the playoffs in each of his four NBA seasons, spoke with reporters ahead of Game 2, admitting that he was frustrated with the decision to hold him out of Game 1 but assured that the issue has been put to rest.

It's unclear where Mitchell will be conditioning- and timing-wise but the 24-year-old is coming off of a season in which he averaged career-highs of 26.4 points and 5.4 assists while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from 3-point range.

With Mitchell back in the lineup, Sixth Man of the Year finalist Joe Ingles will likely return to Utah's second unit alongside another Sixth Man finalist in Jordan Clarkson.
