FIBA 3X3 U18 Asia Cup 2019: India's roster and schedule

The FIBA 3X3 U18 Asia Cup is all set to tip-off today, on August 22nd, in Cyberjaya, Malaysia and go on till the August 24th. 

The Indian boys and girls are slotted in the Qualifying Draws. 

All Qualifying draw matches will be played on the 22nd of August.

All the pool games of the main draw are divided between August 22-23 and all the knockout contests including the finals will be played on August 24. 

Roster and schedule for Men

Roster - Harshwardhan Tomar, Princepal Singh, Rajeev Kumar, and Rajeev Singh Bhati.

The boys are grouped in Pool B of the Qualifying Draw with Australia, Maldives, and Chinese Taipei. Only the top team from each Pool of the Qualifying Draw will qualify for the Main Draw. 

Here's a look at the schedule for the Indian boys on Day 1: 

India vs Maldives 7:50 AM IST
India vs Chinese Taipei 8:50 AM IST
India vs Australia 9:50 AM IST

If the boys were to qualify to the Main Draw, they will be grouped with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in Pool D of the Main Draw.

Two of the four boys on India's roster have recently been part of NBA Academy India's student-athlete program.

Princepal Singh attended an NBA global camp in June of 2018 and, after a year at the NBA Academy India, he moved ahead to be part of the NBA Global Academy in Canberra, Australia. He represented the NBA Global Academy roster at the recent NBA Academy Games in Atlanta. 

Harshwardhan Tomar was selected as the only boy from India for the Basketball Without Borders Camp during the 2019 All-Star Weekend in Charlotte. A month back, in July, he represented India at the NBA Academy Games in Atlanta. 

Roster and schedule for Women

Roster - Harsimran Kaur, Khushi Sanjay Dongre, Pushpa Senthil Kumar, and Sreekala Rani.

The girls are grouped along with Maldives, Chinese Taipei, and Thailand in Qualifying Draw A. Only two teams out of this four-team will qualify to the Main Draw.

Here's a look at the schedule for the Indian girls on Day 1:

India vs Thailand 8:30 AM IST
India vs Chinese Taipei 9:30 AM IST

The top team from this Qualifying Draw will then be grouped in Pool C of the Main Draw alongside New Zealand and Turkmenistan and the runner-up of this Qualifying Draw will qualify to Pool D of the Main Draw alongside Sri Lanka and Japan. 

Three (Harsimran Kaur, Khushi Sanjay Dongre and Sreekala Rani) of the four girls on India's roster were a part of the NBA Academy India's Women's Camp held this past January. Pushpa Senthil Kumar did, however, take part in the inaugural camp in May of 2018 where she won the Coaches award.
 
At the camp, Harsimran Kaur received the Defense Award and Khushi Sanjay Dongre received the Coaches Award. 
 
Kaur went on to achieve greater heights. A couple of months later, she was selected as one of among four Indian girls for the NCAA Next Generation showcase. Just a week back, she was picked as one among two girls for the Basketball Without Borders Asia Camp in Tokyo
