Bengaluru - On Saturday, June 8, the draws for the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers were announced.

Here are how the groups for the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers look for all countries:

Group A Group B Group C Group D Group E Group F
Philippines Chinese Taipei Australia Bahrain Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Jordan
Indonesia Japan Hong Kong Lebanon Syria Kazakhstan
Thailand Malaysia New Zealand India Qatar Sri Lanka
Korea China Guam Iraq Iran Palestine

Japanese women's basketball star Yoshida Asami was in attendance as a Special Guest and so was Basketball Hall of Famer and eight-time NBA All-Star Yao Ming.

As the table indicates, India is in group D with Bahrain, Lebanon and Iraq.

India will play each of the three teams in its group on a home and away basis over three qualifying windows - February 2020, November 2020, and February 2021.

At the end of the three windows, the top two teams from each group directly qualify for the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup.

The six third-placed teams qualify to participate in a final qualifier tournament in February 2021. The top four teams from that tournament will join the earlier 12 to complete the list of participating nations for the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup.

It is too early for any nation to announce its roster for these qualifiers.

However, it is important to note that Amjyot Singh Gill, arguably India's best basketball player, who was handed a 1-year ban on June 4, 2018, will be eligible to be picked to India's roster for these qualifiers.
