FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019: Scores and highlights from Day 2

There was no shortage of NBA talent on the second day of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Not only did Team USA make its tournament debut, Canada, Australia, Greece, Lithuania, as well as the likes of Germany, Turkey and France, each played their first game.

Australia 108, Canada 92

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova led the way for Australia in their victory over Canada with a game-high 24 points (9-13 FG).

San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills was Australia's third-leading scorer with 15 points (3-9 FG, 9-9 FT) and Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles flirted with a double-double, posting 13 points (4-9 FG) and nine assists.

For Canada, Orlando Magic centre Khem Birch scored a team-high 18 points (7-11 FG) while Sacramento Kings guard Cory Joseph added 16 points (6-10 FG).

Canada struggled from 3-point range in the loss, connecting on only nine of their 27 3-point attempts.

Brazil 102, New Zealand 94

Former Phoenix Suns guard Leandrinho Barbosa turned back the clock with 22 points (6-15 FG) in 24 minutes of action.

Former Cavaliers big man Anderson Varejao scored only three points (1-3 FG) in the win, but his one and only basket came off of an impressive sequence for Brazil.

Turkey 86, Japan 67

Ersan Ilyasova was too much for Japan to handle. The Milwaukee Bucks forward finished with 19 points (7-16 FG) and 10 rebounds in the win.

Washington Wizards rookie Rui Hachimura missed seven of his 10 shot attempts but still finished with a team-high 15 points by going 9-for-10 from the free throw line.

Dominican Republic 80, Jordan 76

The Dominican Republic overcame a monster 34-point performance from Jordan's Ahmad Al Dwairi with a balanced effort that saw nine players score.

Lithuania 101, Senegal 47

Indiana Pacers centre Domantas Sabonis and Memphis Grizzlies centre Jonas Valanciunas powered Lithuania to a blowout win with 13 points each.

Senegal went 1-for-23 from 3-point range in the loss.

Greece 85, Montenegro 60

It was a short night for Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, as Greece cruised to victory.

In 16 minutes of action, the reigning league MVP scored 10 points (4-9 FG), grabbed eight rebounds and blocked one shot.

USA 88, Czech Republic 67

Team USA got off to a slow start but took control of the game with a strong second quarter. 

Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell (16 points), Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes (14), Boston Celtics guard Kemba Walker (13) and Celtics forward Jayson Tatum (10) each scored double figures in the win.

For the Czech Republic, Chicago Bulls guard Tomas Satoransky scored a team-high 17 points (7-13 FG).

France 78, Germany 74

A monster double-double of 26 points (8-16 FG) and 10 rebounds from Orlando Magic guard Evan Fournier fueled France in their four-point victory over Germany.

Jazz centre Rudy Gobert scored only nine points (3-5 FG) but the two-time Defensive Player of the Year grabbed nine rebounds and blocked five shots.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroder led Germany with 23 points (7-19 FG) and eight assists.
