Kevin Durant injury update: Brooklyn Nets superstar exits game vs. Miami Heat with left thigh contusion

Brooklyn Nets superstar forward Kevin Durant now faces another injury woe.

Early in the first quarter of a meeting with the Miami Heat, Durant suffered an apparent leg injury while driving to the lane and drawing a foul. Visibly shaken, Durant, an 88.0 percent free throw shooter, missed both attempts before exiting the game.

The team announced that Durant would be out for the remainder of the game with what was ruled as a left thigh contusion.

Injuries have been a prevalent theme throughout the season for this Nets team. Coming into the game, Brooklyn was already without James Harden, who has missed each of the team's last six games with a hamstring issue.

Durant, 32, recently returned to Brooklyn's lineup after missing 22 games with a hamstring injury and, in total, has missed 33 of the Nets' 57 games this season due to his hamstring, injury management and time spent in the league's health and safety protocols.

The former MVP has been nothing short of effective in his time on the court this season, posting averages of 28.1 points, 7.0 assists and 5.4 assists while shooting 53.9 percent from the field, 45.4 percent from deep and 88.0 percent from the free throw line.

With under a month remaining in the regular season, Brooklyn will prioritize its health as it gears up for a postseason run with its sights set on a title.
