Luka Doncic becomes fourth-youngest ever and quickest among active players to reach 5,000 career points landmark

Luka Doncic passed the milestone of 5,000 career points after knocking down a couple of free throws early in the first quarter against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night (ET).

At 22 years and 67 days, Doncic became the fourth-youngest player in NBA history to reach landmark.

Only LeBron James (21 years and 22 days), Kevin Durant (21 years and 133 days) and Carmelo Anthony (21 years and 292 days) have done it quicker.

However, with respect to the number of games, Doncic is the quickest among active players to reach 5,000 career points at 194 games, which is three fewer than it took LeBron.

In terms of the franchise record books, Doncic is the 16th Mavericks player ever to score 5000 with the franchise and has become the fastest ever to reach 5000 career points, beating out the 202 games taken by Mark Aguirre.

Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavericks leading scorer with 31,560 points - sixth-most in NBA history, took 270 games to reach 5000 points.

Despite the Slovenian's historic numbers, in terms of games, he missed out by one on reaching the points milestone in terms of some illustrious company.
