The Miami Heat will retire Chris Bosh's No. 1 jersey in a ceremony on Wednesday. The announcement was originally made by the team back in early February.

Bosh becomes the fourth Heat player in the history of the franchise to have his number retired, joining Tim Hardaway, Alonzo Mourning and Shaquille O'Neal.

Originally selected fourth overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2003 NBA Draft, Bosh joined the Heat via free agency in the offseason of 2010. Bosh's Heat career spanned over six seasons and he appeared in 384 regular season games, averaging 18.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest and earning six All-Star selections with the team. He is fifth all-time in points scored in franchise history.

The 6-foot-11 forward appeared in 78 postseason games with the Heat, averaging 14.9 points and 7.3 rebounds, winning NBA titles in 2012 and 2013.

Miami Heat team President Pat Riley expressed his gratitude and appreciation for Bosh's time with the team:

"I am proud that Chris will have his No. 1 jersey retired and be honoured inside the AmericanAirlines Arena with this recognition for the greatness as a player on the court and his tremendous contributions to the Miami community off the court. His name and jersey will hang forever and always."

The No. 1 jersey will go to the AmericanAirlines Arena rafters in a halftime ceremony during the Heat's meeting with the Orlando Magic.
