Earlier this month (November 2019), the Australian Institute of Sport hosted a 4-day NBA Global Academy Development Camp for the 23 best NBA Academy prospects from 15 different countries.

Pranav Prince, from NBA Academy India, was the only Indian at the camp.

As part of the camp, he took part in many off-court activities such as watching an NBL game between the Illawarra Hawks and the Brisbane Bullets which included 2020 NBA Draft prospect LaMelo Ball.

"My visit to Australia was fantastic, it was an unforgettable experience. I got a chance to play with the best players from all over the world," Prince told Firstpost on returning from the camp. "I learned many new skills and got to know on what aspect of my game I should improve on."

He represented Kerala in the recent Junior Basketball Championship where he led the team to a fourth-place finish after they entered the tournament as reigning champions.

The 16-year-old, who was picked as one of eight student-athletes selected to the NBA Academy India in May 2018, has his eyes set on the NBA.

"My biggest goal is to play in the NBA, but after finishing my time at the NBA Academy, I am looking to win a scholarship in a US university. If I perform well in the USA college basketball tournaments, then I will have a good chance to play in the NBA," Prince told Firstpost.

It's been a busy few months for Prince.

He was part of the NBA Academy India roster at the NBA India Games that were present at the historic event in Mumbai

He was a member of the Indian U16 squad that went unbeaten in the SABA Basketball Championships 2019 in June, helping them book a spot in the next edition of the FIBA U16 Asia Cup. Just a few days later, he represented NBA Academy India at the third NBA Academy Games in Atlanta.

Earlier this year, in January, Prince was among a few student-athletes from the NBA Academy India to meet Jr. NBA Global Championship Ambassador Dwyane Wade at the Madison Square Garden.
