Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James headline All-NBA Team selections

On Wednesday, the NBA announced the All-NBA awards as voted on by a global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters.

Voting was based on games played through March 11 as seeding games did not count toward All-NBA selections or end-of-season awards.

2019-20 All-NBA First Team

Reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James headline the All-NBA First Team as the two lone unanimous selections. It is James' NBA-record 16th All-NBA selection as well as a record-setting 13th First Team selection.

Antetokounmpo and James are joined by Houston Rockets guard James Harden, Lakers centre Anthony Davis and Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic, who becomes just the sixth player in NBA history to earn All-NBA First Team honours at age 21 or younger.

The Second Team is headlined by 2019 NBA FInals MVP Kawhi Leonard, who averaged 26.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists through games played on March 11. Leonard is joined by his former teammate, Raptors forward Pascal Siakam, who earns All-NBA honours after being named the league's Most Improved Player in 2019.

Nuggets centre Nikola Jokic, Blazers guard Damian Lillard and Thunder guard Chris Paul round out the Second Team. For the 35-year-old Paul, it is the first All-NBA nod since the 2015-16 season.

The All-NBA Third Team features a pair of first-time selections in 22-year-old Jayson Tatum and 24-year-old Aussie Ben Simmons. 

Veterans Jimmy Butler, Rudy Gobert and Russell Westbrook round out the All-NBA teams as they make their third, third and ninth appearances, respectively.

As for voting, players were awarded five points for each vote to the All-NBA First Team, three points for each vote to the Second Team and one point for each vote to the Third Team. 

Voters selected two guards, two forwards and one center for each team, choosing players at the position where they play regularly.  Players who received votes at multiple positions were slotted at the position where they received the most votes.
