When the Los Angeles Lakers host the LA Clippers on Dec. 25, it will mark the fourth time in Kawhi Leonard's NBA career that he has played on Christmas Day.
Leonard made his Christmas Day debut in 2013-14, what was his third season with the San Antonio Spurs. He played 29 minutes in San Antonio's loss to the Houston Rockets, posting 13 points on 6-for-14 shooting from the field. Leonard also pulled down seven rebounds and committed two turnovers.
Leonard's second Christmas Day game came two years later in the 2015-16 season. Once again in a loss to the Rockets, Leonard scored 20 points on 8-for-19 shooting from the field, adding eight rebounds, five steals, four assists and three blocks to his stat line.
It was a low scoring affair, as Houston defeated San Antonio by a final score of 88-84. Leonard's 20 points tied James Harden for game-high honours.
In his most recent Christmas Day showing, Leonard led the Spurs to blowout victory over the Chicago Bulls. Leonard recorded a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, but it was LaMarcus Aldridge who stole the show for the Spurs with a game-high 33 points.
Chicago was led by Dwyane Wade, who scored 24 points in a losing effort.
The Raptors did not play on Christmas Day in Leonard's one and only season in Toronto. This season's game against the Lakers will be Leonard's first Christmas Day game on a team other than the Spurs.
Leonard enters the matchup averaging 19.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.3 blocks on 44.7 percent shooting from the field and 41.7 percent from 3-point range on Christmas Day.
Leonard is 1-2 on Christmas Day in his NBA career.
