NBA Draft Rewind: Dallas Mavericks draft Satnam Singh Bhamara with the 52nd pick overall in 2015

On June 25, 2015, history was made.

Satnam Singh Bhamara became the first Indian-born player to be picked in the NBA Draft when he was selected 52nd overall by the Dallas Mavericks.

He went on to play the next two years in the D-League (now G-League) with the Texas Legends, the affiliate of the Mavericks.

Suiting up for the Legends, he became the first Indian-born player to take the court in the Development League. In two seasons, he appeared in 27 games for the Legends averaging 1.5 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.1 minutes.

After the two seasons, Singh spent a year off to focus on his duties with the national team.

In September 2018, he made history once again, becoming the first Indian-born basketball player to play in Canada's NBL when he made his debut in the team's season opener against the defending champions the London Lightning (103-107).
