The series-clinching win also made Canadian television history, becoming the most-watched NBA game in the country's history, reaching an average audience of 7.7-million viewers, according to TSN.
That figure includes viewers on TSN, CTV and the RDS French-language broadcast, but does not include Canadians watching the American feed of the game.
The previous record was 6.4 million for Game 5 of the Finals, which was also then the most watched television program in Canada for the calendar year.
In Toronto and Hamilton, 82 percent of people watching television, were tuned in to watch Kawhi Leonard and co close out the series at Oracle Arena, the highest total viewers for a sports broadcast in the market, excluding the Olympics.
Bell Media says that a record 15.9 million unique Canadian viewers tuned in at some point during the game, roughly 44% of Canada’s population, with audiences peaking at nearly 10 million viewers in the game's final minute.
The Canadian record for an average audience was set in 2010 for the men's hockey final, which saw 16.7 million viewers watching as Canada beat the United States of America.
