The NBA has announced that Philadelphia 76ers center, Joel Embiid and Minnesota Timberwolves center, Karl-Anthony Towns have each been handed a two-game suspension for their involvement in an on-court incident on Thursday.
Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, Kiki VanDeWeghe announced the sanctions today, with each player to miss their next two games without pay.
The incident occurred during the third quarter of the game, with both players becoming tangled up, before wrestling each other to the floor during the 76ers' 117-95 win.
The suspension will see Embiid miss games against the Portland Trail Blazers and the Phoenix Suns, while Towns will sit out games against the Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks.
Embiid is averaging 23.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in 2019-20, while Towns is pouring in a career-high 27.3 points to go along with 11.5 rebounds.
