Kings run riot early in win over Suns

It was a first quarter to forget for the Phoenix Suns, who trailed 36-9 after the first quarter against the Kings, setting up a comfortable 122-105 win for De'Aaron Fox's men.

Without Devin Booker and TJ Warren, the Suns couldn't come up with much on the offensive end, shooting 3-for-17 through the first 12 minutes, missing their first 12 three-point attempts on the night.

A disastrous 21 turnovers turned into 32 Sacramento points as the Kings ran the Suns up and down the floor. Phoenix showed signs of life late as they cut the lead to 22 points, but the Kings were not in the mood for it, going on a 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to put the result beyond doubt

Seven Kings scored in double figures with Buddy Hield leading the way with 20 points and De'Aaron Fox added 16 points and seven assists.

For the SUns, De'Anthony Melton led the way with 21 points off the bench, while Trevor Ariza and Josh Jackson scored 14 each. Rookie Deandre Ayton had a quiet night with 10 points and nine rebounds, striggling to find a way past the Kings' big men.

Doncic lifts Mavs past Blazers

The Dallas Mavericks held off a late surge from the Portland Trail Blazers to walk away with a 111-104 win at home.

Rookie Luka Doncic scored a team-high 21 points and nine rebounds, coming up with plenty of big plays in the fourth quarter, including a trademark step-back dagger three to squash the Blazers hopes of a comeback and give the Mavs a 108-99 lead with 58.9 seconds remaining.

All five Mavericks starters scored in double figures on the night, with Wesley Matthews adding 17 points, DeAndre Jordan and Dennis Smith Jr scoring 12 each and Harrison Barnes finishing with 11.

Dallas, who have now won nine of their past 11 games, came out firing in the first quarter, outscoring the Blazers 34-20. They kept it up in the second to take a 15-point lead into the main break after hitting 50% from the field and 43.8% from the three-point line through the first 24 minutes.

Damian Lillard led Portland with 33 points, but they struggled to find much offence outside of that, leaving their fourth-quarter run a little too late as they dropped their eighth game from their past 11 outings.

Jazz hit franchise record 20 three-pointers

The Jazz's early season struggles from beyond the arc now seem like a lifetime ago after they connected on a franchise record 20 three-pointers in their 139-105 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

They shot a scorching 20-of-33 from deep (60%), with Kyle Korver's presence already opening up tons of space. He finished with three triples on his way to 15 points, while Donovan Mitchell led the way with four of his own.

Aussie Dante Exum knocked down the 19th triple of the night to tie their previous franchise record, before Georges Niang drilled number 20 moments later.

Mitchell led them in scoring with 20 points on the night, while Rudy Gobert added 18 points and 10 boards, while Joe Ingles had 13 points and seven assists.

For the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan LaMarcus Aldridge scored 16 points each, with Aussie Patty Mils scoring eight off the bench as they slumped to their sixth defeat from their past nine games.
