LaMarcus' career-high 56 leads Spurs over Thunder in double-overtime classic

We've likely just witnessed the game of the 2018/19 season and if you didn't watch it, do yourself a favour and rewatch this one.

In a sure fire instant-classic, the San Antonio Spurs outlasted the Oklahoma City Thunder to claim the win at home 154-147.

LaMarcus Aldridge was the biggest weapon for the Spurs as he scorched the Thunder defense for a career-high 56 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

The Spurs shot the lights out from beyond the arc during the contest after knocking down their first 13 attempts from deep before finishing 16/19.

Bench trio Patty Mills, Davis Bertans and Marco Belinelli had the hot hands as they shot a combined 12/13 from three point territory.

Despite the flaming hot shooting from the Spurs, the Thunder refused to go away and kept their opponents within arms reach.

All five Thunder starters scored 19 or more points with Paul George leading the way with 30.

But it was the exploits of Russell Westbrook who ended with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 24 assists. Recording yet another triple-double on the season.

The teams refused to give up on the contest and the epic clash drew the eyeballs of every NBA fan and even some of the games biggest names.

But in the end it was the Spurs and Aldridge who emerged victorious and pushed their record to 25-18 on the season. The Thunder drop to 25-16 and lose ground on the Warriors and Nuggets at the top of the West.

The two sides will square off on Sunday in what everyone is hoping will be a repeat of this classic.
