Neither of the Dallas Mavericks' young superstars - Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis took part in the team's preseason opener in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A day later, on the second night of a preseason back-to-back in Detroit against the Pistons, they both started the game and it didn't take them long to show off how just deadly they can be.

They combined to score the team's first 12 points, with Porzingis scoring eight, including two long three-pointers early in the first quarter:

Over the course of the game, in their limited minutes, Luka showcased his trickery and Porzingis got back to hammering home putbacks.

They even combined on an alley-oop in the third quarter which resulted in a three-point play:

In 28 minutes, the Slovenian guard finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while Porzingis recorded 18 points and seven rebounds in just 19 minutes of play.

Being outscored 38-31 in the fourth quarter, the Mavericks lost the game 124-117, but the young European superstars certainly showed a lot of promise in the short time they played together.

While Doncic is coming off a Rookie of the Year season with averages of 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in 72 games, Porzingis took the court after nearly 20 months after he tore an ACL in his left knee.

The Mavericks now travel home to Dallas to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
