Redick's hot hand leads new look Sixers over Nuggets to snap losing streak


The Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets were both riding two-game losing streaks, but it was the new look Sixers who snapped their streak with the 117-110 win at home.

Philly welcomed in new additions Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, James Ennis and Mike Scott into their rotation for the first time.

Harris got off to a quick start as he dropped five points and assisted a JJ Redick three in the opening minutes to account for eight of the 76ers' 14 points. Before ending with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Joel Embiid was quiet as he overcomes an illness, but he did come up with a huge block in the final minute to effectively put an end to the Nuggets push. He ended with a 15 point, 12 rebound double-double.

But it was the hot hand of Redick that electrified the crowd and saw the Sixers edge out the Nuggets in an enthralling battle.

Redick couldn't miss from beyond the arc as he connected on his first six attempts, he ended the contest with 34 points on 11-15 shooting, gooing 6-7 from deep.

He now has nine games this season with at least five threes. He's one of only seven players with at least nine games of five-or-more threes this season.

Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler pitched in with key contributions as they combined for 34 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Simmons however ended the clash with nine turnovers.

Nikola Jokic led the way for the Nuggets with his 11th triple-double of the season, piling in 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

The contest was back and forth throughout, but the 76ers were able to pull away down the stretch to push their season record to 35-20 and equal the fourth placed Boston Celtics in the standings.

Denver lose a bit of ground to the Golden State Warriors with the loss dropping them to 37-18 and riding a three-game losing streak.

Philly will be back in action on Monday when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers, while the Nuggets will look to snap their skid when they take on Miami on Tuesday.
