NBA Summer League 2019: Las Vegas Summer League Day 5 Recap

The Summer League action continued on Day 5 in Las Vegas, with plenty of highlights.

RJ Barrett turned in his best performance of the summer for the Knicks, recording a double-double in their loss to the Toronto Raptors, while Portland's Anfernee Simons' sizzling form in Vegas continues, pouring in 35 points on 6-of-7 shooting from three against the Utah Jazz.

Oklahoma City Thunder 84, Croatia 76


Thunder: Kevin Hervey – 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block

Croatia: Marjan Cakuran – 13 points, 3 rebounds, 

Led by six players scoring in double figures, the Thunder took control of this one in the fourth quarter, opening the period on a 10-0 run. They turned the heat up on defence down the stretch as they held Croatia to just seven points in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Miami Heat 96, Orlando Magic 92


Heat: Tyler Herro – 25 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal

Magic:  Amile Jefferson – 24 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals

Pick no. 13 in this year's draft Tyler Herro looks more than ready to contribute at the NBA level, leading the Heat to a comeback win with 25 points as they move to 3-0.

Atlanta Hawks 87, Indiana Pacers 67


Hawks: Jordan Sibert – 21 points, 1 rebound,s 1 assist

Pacers: Alize Johnson – 18 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal

Sibert had the hot hand from deep, connecting on 7-of-9 from beyond the arc to guide the Hawks home.

Utah Jazz 97, Portland Trail Blazers 93


Jazz: Tony Bradley – 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists,, 2 steals

Blazers: Anfernee Simons – 35 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals

The Jazz escaped with a narrow win on Day 5, with Tony Bradley icing the game at the free throw line. 

Anfternee Simmons stays getting buckets in Vegas, knocking down 6-of-7 three-pointers, while rookie Nassir Little had the crowd going with this thunderous jam. 


Memphis Grizzlies 79, Phoenix Suns 69


 

Grizzlies: Tyler Harvey – 19 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals

Suns: James Palmer Jr. – 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists,  2 steals

It was a back-and-forth encounter in Vegas, before the Grizzlies took control in the fourth quarter behind an 11–0 run to start the period.

Boston Celtics 95, Denver Nuggets 92


Celtics: Carsen Edwards – 23 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists

Nuggets: Brandon Goodwin – 28 points, 4 assists, 1 steal

Carsen Edwards showed off his offensive versatility, getting to the rim at will and knocking down several contested mid-range jumpers. He looks like he could be an instant contributor for the Celtics next season.

Toronto Raptors 85, New York Knicks 73


Raptors: Chris Boucher – 23 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks

Knicks: RJ Barrett – 17 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks

Barrett turned in his best performance of the summer, looking more comfortable on the ball, making plays and finding teammates for open looks. Fellow Canadian Chris Boucher was the star for the Raptors with 23 points, his third 20+ point outing in Vegas.

Houston Rockets 94, Sacramento Kings 82


Rockets: Gary Clark – 24 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block

Kings: Kyle Guy – 16 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal

Clark capped off his 24-point performance with a clutch layup to give the Rockets the lead with 22.8 seconds remaining. Sacramento's Kyle Guy continued his good form in Vegas, knocking down 3 three-pointers on his way to 16 points.

Los Angeles Clippers 90, Washington Wizards 72


Clippers: Terance Mann – 15 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 steal, 1 block

Wizards: Admiral Schofield – 16 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block

Terance Mann fell one assist shy of a triple-double, while Canadian Mfiondu Kabengele put in another solid two-way performance, registering four blocks to go with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
