Paul George after scoring 33 points in LA Clippers debut: 'I thought I was terrible'

Paul George made his debut with the LA Clippers on Friday and scored a team-high 33 points in only 24 minutes of action.

George wasn't, however, satisfied with his performance.

After the game, George said he thought he was "terrible" and that it felt like his first preseason game.

"I thought I was terrible," George said, per Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times. "I got a lot to get back to just from my performance, my defence and just for the flow of the game and then just, I haven't had any time to get a feel for this speed in a long time. It's just good to get this one under my belt."

George shot an efficient 10-for-17 from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the team's loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. He added nine rebounds and four assists to his stat line, but George also dealt with foul trouble and committed a team-high five turnovers, four of which came in the fourth quarter when the Pelicans outscored the Clippers 36-30.

"I'm here to win games and I didn't get a win," George said. "We had a chance to win tonight, and couple bad possessions in a row on my behalf down the stretch and we lose."

Despite what he thought of his own performance, George earned praise from both Clippers head coach Doc Rivers and his teammates after the game. Rivers said he was "sensational" while Rodney McGruder called him "big-time."

George missed the first 11 games of the season after undergoing two procedures in the offseason, one on his right shoulder to repair a partially torn tendon, the other on his left shoulder to repair a small tear in his labrum.

George said afterwards that his shoulders felt the best they had in "a really long time" and that his conditioning was fine.
