Pelicans' star Zion Williamson re-enters NBA bubble after dealing with private matter, will enter quarantine

Zion Williamson is back with the Pelicans in the Orlando bubble the team announced on Friday.

The rookie said in a team statement that he appreciated the love he received while dealing with a family matter.

"My family and I appreciate the love and respect that everyone showed us while we dealt with a private family matter," Williamson said in a statement.

"I'm excited to rejoin my team in Orlando and look forward to getting back on the court with my teammates after quarantine."

Williamson was tested daily for COVID-19 under the NBA's strict protocol while he was away from the team. He was returning negative tests which means his quarantine period should only be four days according to multiple reports including ESPN's Andrew Lopez. No official announcement on Williamson's quarantine period has been made by the team or league.

Should Williamson only need to be quarantined for four days, he would be available for the Pelicans' first game against the Utah Jazz next Thursday.

After missing the first 43 games of the season, Williamson burst onto the scene averaging 23.6 points and 6.8 rebounds in his 19 games. Williamson was out after undergoing meniscus surgery and a sprained ankle in February.
