The Philadelphia 76ers have been hit with another injury.

During Thursday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, three-time All-Star Joel Embiid suffered a left shoulder sprain and did not return.

The injury occured with 49.2 seconds remaining in the first quarter after Embiid collided with Cavaliers centre Ante Zizic. He went to the locker room after missing two free throws, returned to the bench at the start of the second quarter, only to return to the locker room again shortly thereafter.

Embiid left the game with three points in seven minutes of action.

Embiid has been Philadelphia's leading scorer this season 23.8 points per game. He's also leading the team in rebounding (12.0) and blocks (1.4).

The 76ers are only a few days removed from losing their other All-Star in Ben Simmons to an injury. As Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Wednesday, Simmons has a nerve impingement in his lower back and will be re-evaluated in "approximately two weeks."

It remains to be seen how much time — if any — Embiid misses. We will provide an update when there is one.
