Late on Monday, FIBA announced the pools for the Main and Qualifying Draw for the 2019 FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup.

Both Indian men and women were placed in Pool B of the Qualifying draws in their respective categories.

As per the qualifying format for the tournament, the winner of each pool in the Qualifying draw will progress to the main draw.

The Indian men's squad will be grouped with Australia, the tournament's reigning champions, and Mongolia in Pool C of the main draw if they clinch Pool B (South Korea, Malaysia, and Vanuatu) in the qualifying draw.

Similarly, if the Indian women's squad top their Pool B (Maldives, Thailand, and Malaysia) in the qualifying draw, they will be placed alongside Iran and Turkmenistan in Pool D of the main draw.

Back in 2013, at the inaugural edition of this tournament in Doha, the Indian women struck gold as they defeated Mongolia 21-14 in the final. That squad consisted of Geethu Anna Jose, Anitha Paul Durai, Manisha Dange, and Pratima Singh.

Geethu Anna Jose, who led the squad to an average margin of victory of 11.3 points through their six wins, was named Best Player of the tournament.

The Qualifying Draw will be played on May 22-23 and the Main Draw on May 24-26, 2019.
