Despite the season coming to an end, the good news has already begun for the Philadelphia 76ers with reports head coach Brett Brown is set to return.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news of Brown's return after a meeting took place between the coach and Philadelphia 76ers managing partner Josh Harris and General Manager Elton Brand.

Brown has a 178-314 record in six seasons since taking over the coaching position back in 2013. His first four seasons at the helm took place during 'The Process' and saw the franchise only win more than 20 games once.

The Sixers' fortunes have turned over the past two seasons behind Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid's rise as they've won over 50 games in each of the past two seasons.

They reached the playoffs for the first time since 2012, but have failed to advance through to the Eastern Conference Finals after being eliminated by the Boston Celtics and then the Toronto Raptors.

Rumours began to swirl surrounding Brown's future during the playoffs, but those doubts appear to have been put to bed and were met with an angry response from Embiid.

"I just thought (the rumor) was bulls***. He's done a fantastic job. He's been there through everything...I don't think he should have anything to worry about. He's an amazing coach and a better person," Embiid said.

Brown, 58, is currently under contract through the 2021-22 season.
