Report: Carmelo Anthony re-signing with Portland Trail Blazers on a one-year deal

Carmelo Anthony is returning to Portland after reportedly finalising a one-year deal with the Trail Blazers., according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Per Charania, Anthony wanted to show loyalty to the Blazers, who gave him a career lifeline, signing him last season after only playing 10 games for the Houston Rockets in 2018-19.

The 36-year-old enjoyed a productive season in Portland alongside Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, starting all 58 games in 2019-20, averaging 15.4 points and 6.3 rebounds in 32.8 minutes per game. Anthony shot 43 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from 3-point range on 3.9 attempts per game.

The Blazers have been busy in free agency and in the trade market, bolstering their wing depth by acquiring Robert Covington via trade, re-signing Rodney Hood, and landing Derrick Jones, Jr. in free agency.
