DeMarcus Cousins is ready for a fresh start in Los Angeles after recovering from a quad injury that sidelined him for a month during the Golden State Warriors' playoff run.

"My goal is to play 82 games this season," Cousins said, adding that the injury has "100 percent healed."

Cousins signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, re-uniting with former teammate Anthony Davis, after forming a formidable frontcourt in New Orleans before Cousins went down with an Achilles injury.

"Me and AD have talked numerous times about teammates again," Cousins told reporters. "We never wanted it to end, but everything kind of happens for a reason. That being said, the opportunity presented itself and I chose to make it happen."

Boogie's stint playing alongside Davis produced some of the best basketball of his career, averaging 25 points, 12.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks per game in 65 appearances for the Pelicans.

"I think we're a pretty tough big-man duo," Cousins said. "That's part of the reason we wanted to become teammates again.

"We realised how much better we made one another...How much we made the game easier for one another, so I think we both appreciate each other's presence, but to add LeBron James to the mix, his resume speaks for itself."
