The Boston Celtics have signed guard Marcus Smart to a four-year extension, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnaroswki.

Smart, who was set to enter the final year of his previous deal worth $13.8 million in 2021-22, will make $77 million over the course of the new contract wich keeps him in Boston through 2025-26. Per Wojnarowski, the deal does not include a player option.

The 27-year-old is coming off a strong season in Boston, averaging career highs in minutes (32.9), scoring and assists, posting 13.1 points, 5.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game on 39.8 percent shooting form the field and 33 percent from the 3-point line across 48 games.
Smart has spent his entire seven-year NBA career with the Celtics, reaching the playoffs every season and his the longest-tenured player on the roster after bing drafted No. 6 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft.
His voice in the locker room and his defensive presence are highly valued by the Celtics, with the combo guard named to the All-Defensive First Team in two of the past three seasons (2019, 2020).
