Report: Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Ben Simmons to undergo surgery on injured knee

The rest of the 2019-20 season is reportedly up in the air for Ben Simmons.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Simmons will undergo surgery on his left knee to remove a loose body. Simmons will have to leave the NBA's bubble in Orlando for the procedure.

Wojnarowski added that the Philadelphia 76ers haven't ruled out Simmons for the season, but it would take a deep postseason run to "keep the door open" for a possible return.

Simmons suffered the injury in Philadelphia's win over the Washington Wizards on Thursday. He showed some discomfort in his leg after coming up with an offensive rebound in the middle of the third quarter. He then exited the game and didn't return.

The next day, the 76ers announced that Simmons had suffered a subluxation of the left patella.

Through 57 games this season, Simmons is averaging 16.4 points, 8.0 assists, 7.8 rebounds and a league-leading 2.1 steals per game.
