Portland Trail Blazers

Report: Portland Trail Blazers set to fully guarantee Carmelo Anthony's contract for remainder of 2019-20 season

The much-publicized NBA return of Carmelo Anthony is set to continue, with ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reporting that the Portland Trail Blazers are set to fully guarantee the veterans contract for the remainder of his 17th season in the league.

Anthony has averaged 16.9 points per game in eight appearances, his highest scoring mark since the 2016-17 season - the year he was last selected to an All-Star team.

The Blazers had until early January to waive Anthony before the deal would become fully guaranteed, instead, they wasted no time in locking up the ten time All-Star.

Winners in four of their last five games, Portland has climbed into the ninth seed in the Western Conference, as it looks to recover from a tough start to the season.

Anthony was named the Western Conference Player of the Week last week.
