The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to trade Evan Turner to the Atlanta Hawks for Kent Bazemore, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

There is no other compensation in the deal, per Chris Kirschner of the Athletic.

The trade doesn't impact either team's cap sheet much, as Bazemore ($19.3 million) and Turner ($18.6 million) will make almost the same in the 2019-20 season. Bazemore and Turner will then both be unrestricted free agents in the summer of 2020.

Bazemore started in 35 of the 67 games he appeared in with the Hawks last season. He averaged 11.6 points (40.2% FG, 32.0% 3PT), 3.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Turner started in only two of the 73 games he appeared in with the Blazers last season, averaging 6.8 points (46.0% FG, 21.2% 3PT), 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 0.5 steals per game. Turner saw his game time decrease in the playoffs, but he came up big against the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals, scoring 14 points in 19 minutes off the bench.

Wojnarowski added that Bazemore provides "an insurance policy on free agent Rodney Hood" for the Blazers.

Per Kirschner, moving Bazemore clears the way for their young prospects in De'Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish and Kevin Huerter to play more minutes, as they see Turner as a backup point guard.
