Report: Tristan Thompson to sign two-year deal with the Boston Celtics

One-time NBA champion and Toronto, Ontario native Tristan Thompson has signed with the Boston Celtics, according to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

The 29-year-old, who spent the first nine seasons of his career in Cleveland will reportedly sign a two-year, $19 million deal.

Thompson is coming off of a solid season with the Cleveland Cavaliers averaging career-highs of 12.0 points and 2.1 assists to go with 10.1 rebounds per game. The veteran centre shot an efficient 51.2% from the field and even extended his range a bit, going 9-for-23 (39.1%) from beyond the arc.

NBA.com's Scott Rafferty had ranked Thompson as the 20th-best available player entering free agency, as the 29-year-old centre proved this past season he still has plenty left in the tank.

He arrives in Boston, giving their frontcourt immediate help, alongside Daniel Theis and Robert Williams, with his ability to protect the rim and switch out onto the perimeter to defend smaller guards.
