San Antonio Spurs to retire Tony Parker's jersey in November

The San Antonio Spurs will officially retire franchise legend Tony Parker's no. 9 jersey on November 11, during their home game against the Memphis Grizzlies, the team announced today.

Parker will become the 10th player in Spurs franchise history to have their number retired, joining Bruce Bowen (12), Tim Duncan (21), Sean Elliott (32), George Gervin (44), Manu Ginobili (20), Avery Johnson (6), Johnny Moore (00), David Robinson (50) and James Silas (13).

The French international was selected with the 28th overall pick in 2001, forming a successful trio alongside Ginobili and Duncan, amassing 126 postseason wins together - the most wins by any trio in NBA history.

The 37-year-old won four NBA championships (2003, '05, '07, and '14) during his 18 seasons in the NBA and was named Finals MVP in 2007. He played 17 seasons with the Spurs before playing his final year in 2018-19 with the Charlotte Hornets.

He was named to six All-Star teams, four All-NBA teams and is currently the Spurs franchise leader in assists (6,829), second in games played (1,198) and fourth in points (18,943).

Parker averaged 15.5 points, 5.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 30.5 minutes per game through his career and finishes with the seventh-most wins in NBA history with 892 wins.
