Stephen Curry's third quarter leads Golden State Warriors to comeback win over New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans led by as much as 17 points against the Golden State Warriors tonight.

They held a 16-point lead with five minutes left in the third quarter, then learned the hard way that no lead is safe against Stephen Curry, especially at Oracle Arena.

Curry went on one of his typical flurries where he just simply could not miss. In the final five minutes of the quarter he buried six 3-pointers for a grand total of seven made threes for the quarter.


 

He nearly single-handedly erased the Pelicans' 16-point lead and when Andre Iguodala hit a circus shot for an and-1 to end the quarter to give the Warriors the lead.


 

New Orleans didn't let that quarter completely kill their spirits though. They continued to battle and even had a lead with under five minutes to go in the game. The Warriors regained the lead by five with under four minutes to play but an Anthony Davis hook shot made it a one possession game with 3:34 to go.

Draymond Green responded by burying a back-breaking 3-pointer to put the Warriors up by six and they never looked back. Golden State closed out the game to win 147-140 behind 41 points from Curry, 17 points and 14 assists from Green and 31 points and 15 rebounds from Kevin Durant.

They overcame ridiculous scoring nights from Davis (30p, 18r), Nikola Mirotic (29p), Jrue Holiday (25p) and Julius Randle (23p). The two teams combined even broke the record for the most 3-pointers made in an NBA game.


And on the topic of breaking records, Curry became the first player in NBA history to hit eight 3-pointers in three consecutive games. 

The Warriors have now won six games in a row with DeMarcus Cousins' return set for Friday against the LA Clippers.
