A short slate of six games for the third day in the New Year but there's plenty of action to keep track of.

Houston Rockets 104, Sacramento Kings 92

With James Harden ruled out of the game after his pregame routine, John Wall and Christian Wood stepped up to help the Rockets improve to 2-2 by defeating the Kings for the second time in three days in Sacramento.

New York Knicks 106, Indiana Pacers 102

A couple of clutch plays in the final 1:34 minutes of the game, by Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson, gave the Knicks the narrow road win. The victory helps them improve to 3-3 for the young season.

RJ Barrett led the scoring charts with 25 (8-15 FGs; 4-5 3Ps) while Julius Randle contributed across the board with 12 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, and two steals.

For the Pacers, five scored in double figures led by Malcolm Brogdon with 33 points and seven assists.

Oklahoma City Thunder 108, Orlando Magic 99

Al Horford knocks down a clutch triple as six Thunder players score in double figures to help the team register only their second win of the season.

Meanwhile, the Magic, who were led by Nikola Vucevic's 30 points and 13 rebounds, dropped their second consecutive game after starting the season 4-0.

Philadelphia 76ers 127, Charlotte Hornets 112

The 76ers improve to a league-best 5-1 and 4-0 when Joel Embiid plays but it was an all-round effort.

Seth Curry scores 21 on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, Embiid (19 points, 14 rebounds, four assists) and Tobias Harris (24 points, nine rebounds, six assists, four steals, and three blocks) stuff the stat sheet while Ben Simmons records his 29th career triple-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Cleveland Cavaliers 96, Atlanta Hawks 91

Over the final 27.9 seconds of the game, the Cavs' 8-3 run gives them their fourth win in the sixth game of the season. Collin Sexton scores seven of those eight runs, helping him finish with a game-high 27 points (10-18 FGs).

Drummond records his sixth straight double-double with 14 and 11 while the other two big men in Larry Nance Jr. (9 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals) and JaVale McGee (14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals) contribute across the board.

For the Hawks, six players score in double figures led by Trae Young's 16 points and 10 assists as they fall to 4-2 for the season after starting 3-0.

New Orleans Pelicans 120, Toronto Raptors 116

The Pelicans sweep the season series against the Raptors for the first time since 2014-15.

All five New Orleans starters scored in double figures. Eric Bledsoe, who knocked down a clutch triple, finished with 19 points and 10 assists. Brandon Ingram topped the game's scoring charts with 31 while Zion Williamson chipped-in with 21.

For the Raptors, who now fall to 1-4 for the season, Fred VanVleet was the top scorer with 27 points.
