This date in NBA history: Michael Jordan drops career-high 69 points in Chicago Bulls win over Cleveland Cavaliers

On March 28, 1990 the Chicago Bulls (45-23) visted the Coliseum at Richfield to meet the Cleveland Cavaliers (32-36).

The Bulls were surging towards the NBA playoffs, though, they did need an overtime period and a vintage performance from Jordan to pull out the 117-113 win.

Jordan was simply dominant in this one, pouring in a career-high 69 points to go along with 18 rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block.

Jordan was 23-for-37 from the field, 2-for-6 from beyond the 3-point line and a staggering 21-for-23 from the free-throw line in a masterful performance.

Horace Grant was the only only Chicago player to score in double-digits with 16 points, while Mark Price led Cleveland with 31 points and eight assists.

Jordan would play 50 minutes on the night, denying that fatigue came into play late in the game.

"I didn't think about being tired because I wanted to win the game," Jordan said.

"I've been in that situation where I've scored a lot of points and we lost, and I didn't want that to happen.

"So I kept pushing myself, kept talking to myself, saying, 'Don't stop, don't stop. Keep going.' You feel better about the effort when you win."
