This Date in NBA History (Sep. 8): LeBron James becomes the winningest player in playoff history

On Sep. 8, 2020, LeBron James became the winningest player in NBA playoff history.

The Los Angeles Lakers came away with a 112-102 victory over the Houston Rockets in Game 3 of the 2020 Western Conference Finals, giving James his 162nd individual playoff win of his career.

That tally helped him surpass Derek Fisher, a former five-time NBA Champion with the Lakers.

James recorded the 162nd win in his 245th playoff game, while Fisher had recorded his 161 in 259 games played.

Since passing Fisher, James won another 10 games in the 2020 postseason and two in the 2021 NBA Playoffs to stand with a career playoff win total of 174 prior to the 2021-22 season.

With 174 wins out of 266 games played, James is the only active player in the top 10 all-time and his playoff winning percentage (65.4%) is the highest of any player in the top 10.

Along with wins, James is also the all-time leader in NBA Playoff history for games played (266) and career points (7631). He ranks second all-time in assists (1919) and triple-doubles (28).
