The 2019-20 season is the NBA's 74th year. Given the long history of the league, every date is bound to be the anniversary of a historic event. 

Heading into this week (Nov. 11-17), here's a look at all the significant events that took place on these dates... 

Nov. 11

1992 - Shaquille O'Neal makes NBA debut

Picked No. 1 overall in the 1992 NBA Draft, Shaquille O'Neal made his debut for the Orlando Magic on Nov. 11. 

He took the court for his first game against a franchise he would later play for, the Miami Heat. 

In 32 minutes, O'Neal finished with 12 points, 18 rebounds, three blocks and two assists on 4-of-8 shooting in a 110-100 win. 

1993 - Nets retire Drazen Petrovic's jersey

Prior to a game against the Indiana Pacers, the Nets retired the jersey of the late Drazen Petrovic at the Meadowlands Arena. 

Petrovic passed away earlier that year in a car accident. 

Prior to his death, the two-time EuroLeague champion had played four seasons in the NBA - two with the Portland Trail Blazers (1989-91) and two with the New Jersey Nets (1991-93). In his last season in the league (1992-93), he was named to the All-NBA Third Team.

Then NBA Commissioner David Stern was present at the jersey retirement alongside Petrovic's former Croatian teammates Dino Radja and Stojko Vrankovic, his father Jole, mother Biserka and brother Aleksander.

Nov. 14, 2009: Brandon Jennings drops 55 points

At just 20 years and 52 days, Brandon Jennings, as a rookie, became the youngest player in NBA history to score 50-plus points.

At the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, in just the seventh game of his career, he dropped 55 points in a 129-125 win against the Golden State Warriors.

In 41 minutes of action, Jennings also recorded five rebounds and five assists on 21-of-34 (61.8%) shooting from the field and 7-of-8 (87.5%) from beyond the arc.

Nov. 15, 1995: Hakeem reaches 3,000 blocks landmark

En route to recording seven blocks in Toronto against the Raptors, two-time NBA champion Hakeem Olajuwon reached the 3,000 career blocks milestone. 

In that game, the Hall of Famer also recorded 17 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Rockets' three-point win. 

At the time, he was the third player in NBA history to reach that threshold after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Mark Eaton. He would go on to finish with 3,830 career blocks, the most in NBA history. 

Nov. 17, 2018: Kemba Walker scores 60 points in a loss

Kemba Walker began the 2018-19 season on fire. 

In the 14 games prior to this one, he was averaging 26.4 points per game, the best first 14-game stretch of his career. In game No. 15, he went nuclear. 

Against the Philadelphia 76ers, Walker recorded seven rebounds, four assists and four steals along with a career-high 60 points, including 19 in the critical fourth quarter. He shot an efficient 21-of-34 (61.8%) shooting from the field, but his performance was in vain, as it came in a three-point overtime loss.

Walker's 60 points remain a Charlotte Hornets single-game scoring record, eclipsing the previous mark of 52, which was also set by him.
