Team USA book their spot in the gold medal game with a 97-78 win over the Australian Boomers.

Kevin Durant led the charge with 23 points, while Devin Booker added 20 and Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday finished with 11 apiece.

Patty Mills led the Aussies with 15 points and eight assists, while Dante Exum added 12 and Jock Landale 11.

FINAL: USA 97, Australia 78

- And that's a wrap, the USA were simply unstoppable offensively in the second half to book their spot in the gold medal game. 

- Both teams have emptied the bench

- The rebound battle has been tough for the Boomers tonight without Baynes in the middle. USA winning the count 24-10

- Jrue Holiday has been superb on the defensive end for Team USA, making life tough for Patty Mills, who's shot 5-of-14 for the game. He hads to the bench and that looks like he's done for the night with four minutes remaining. 

- Australia not going away. Mills drills the wide open triple and the lead is down to 18 points (5:21)

- Booker again from deep. The 3-point shooting has fliipped the script for Team USA

- Ingles gets to the rim for his first score since the first quarter. USA lead 84-63 (6:28)

- Turnovers continue to plague the Aussies as Team USA get out on the break for some easy buckets to open the period.  

End of third quarter: USA 74 Australia 55

What a quarter from Team USA. They caught their rhythm from the 3-point line, connecting on 4-of-8 from deep as they outscored Australia 32-10 in the period. 

They have three players now in double figures with Booker on 18 points, Holiday on 11 and Durant 23.

- LaVine gets the steal and throws down the tomahawk jam. This is starting to get out of reach for the Aussies as they trail by 19 points. 

- Tatum gets another triple as the floodgates begin to open from beyond the arc from team USA. 

- A much-needed triple from Nick Kay breaks the drought to cut it to 59-63 (2:40)

- Since Australia took a 15-point lead in the second quarter, USA has gone on a 33-9 run. They're switching everything on defence and getting right up under the Australains on the perimeter. 

- Patty cuts it to six points and Booker answers back with a triple of his own. USA starting to find their range from deep. 

- Durant is putting on a HUGE scorcing performance with a game-high 23 points and USA extend their lead to nine points 54-45 (6:47)

- Australia yet to score in the third quarter here with three minutes gone. 

- Two quick buckets from Jrue Holiday and Team USA are back in front 46-45 (8:28)

Half-time: Australia 45, USA 42

After leading by as many as 15 points, the Boomers to into half-time with just a three-point lead after Team USA close the second period on a 16-4 run, with some late turnovers proving costly for the Aussies.

Durant leads Team USA with 15 points, while Exum has 10 for Australia. Goulding added eight and Mills and Ingles have seven apiece.

Three-point shooting has been the difference in the first 20 minutes with Australia connecting on 7-of-15, while USA have gone 2-of-13

- Here come the USA! Durant goes baseline and makes it a 14-4 run to cut it to five points.

- Tatum rises up over Ingles with a big time triple to cut the deficit to eight points. Australia are making the USA work hard for their buckets. 

- Durant called for his second foul and the USA are over the foul limit. Big final three minutes of the half coming up. 

- Patty Mills answers a 5-0 USA run with a deeeep triple! (3:50)

- This Boomers defence is swarming. Help defenders arriving on time and cutting off USA at every turn. They're 0-of-9 from the 3-point line, which is a big number for the Boomers considering how USA has torched teams from deep this tournament.  

- Unsportsmanlike foul called on Matisse Thybulle as he cuts off Devin Booker. two free throws and posession (4:43).

- Exum throws it up for Landale and the Boomers go up 41-26 (5:23)

- We might have to make Olympic Exum a thing. He hits another triple to make it a team-high 10 points!

- Exum putting his body on the line, absorbing the charge from LaVine and goes down the other end for the layup. Four-point Exum swing (6:52)

- Nick Kay doesn't get the foul call. It's a technical awarded to the US. Timeout USA (7:28). Lillard buries the free throw and they get the ball back. 

- Chris Goulding picks up right where he left off. Connects on a triple to start the quarter and then gets fouled on another attempt from deep, going 2-of-3. Boomers lead 29-20 (8:42)

End of first quarter: Australia 24, USA 18

The Boomers lead at the end of the first quarter, behind seven points from Joe Ingles and five from Dante Exum. 

Durant has eight of USA's 18 points, but outside of him their offence hasn't really got going. They're 0-of-6 form the 3-point line

- Chris Goulding splashes the triple at the buzzer to put the Boomers in front by six!

- A great defensive posession from Dante Exum, cutting off Durant and contesting the shot, but the former MVP still gets the fadeaway to go. Good defence. better offence. KD has eight of their 16 points. Boomers lead 20-16 (1:30)

- Australia are getting to the rim with limited resistance in Q1. First a Mills layup followed by a Kay dunk. 

- EXUM FOR THREE! Australia takes their biggest lead of the game at 14-8 (4:14)

- Not much Nick Kay can do when Durant backs down and lets the fadeaway fly. 

- That's Draymond Green's second foul. Mills goes to the line to give Australia five-point lead

- Team USA have struggled to get clean looks at the rim early, shooting 2-of-8 from the field. Timeout (5:07)

- Thybulle immediately gets the steal and finds Exum who attacks the rim. He'll shoot two free throws. 

- Exum and Thybulle check into the game for Ingles and Dellavedova (6:35)

- A strong start on the defensive end for the Aussies. Their activity on the perimeter has been sensational, closing out and giving the shooters no space. 

- What a start from Joe Ingles! He replies with two triples to give the Boomers a 6-2 lead!
