Game of the Night

Utah and Denver loomed as the game of the night before a ball was tipped, but the unfortunate injury to Nikola Jokic put a dampener on that one.

Instead, it was the thrilling OT battle between the Lakers and Spurs the gets the nod.

As always, there were plenty of Lakers fans in the Spurs building, with an incredible atmosphere down the stretch in this one.

The real drama started with a deeeeep three from Malik Monk, with the new Laker endearing himself to his new fans to give the Lakers a 114-112 lead with under a minute to play.

The Spurs would then tie things up as Anthony Davis lay on the floor clutching his knee, ensuring the game would see an extra five minutes.

Davis would remain on the floor, eventually tipping in the go-ahead basket with 1:08 left in overtime that gave the Lakers the lead for good.

It wasn't easy, but the Lakers escaped with the win and now improve to 2-2 on the season.

Highlight of the Night

We knew it was going to happen sooner or late but it didn't make it any less entertaining!

Kemba Walker lit up Madison Square Garden with a scorching three minute patch where he dropped 10 points. Two long range makes and two from the mid range made up the burst, with Walker sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

MORE: Knicks thriving with outside shot

Walker would go on to tally a modest 19 points on the night, but the Knicks are now 3-1 and Walker is looking like he has plenty left in the tank for his homecoming to New York.

Are the Knicks back?!

Performance of the Night

To say Russell Westbrook has been under fire in the opening few weeks of his Lakers tenure would be putting it lightly.

With the Lakers struggling out the gate and Westbrook well down on his usual statistical output, he has been an easy target for blame.

On this night, with LeBron James out of the lineup, Westbrook thrived to stuff the statsheet and finish with 33 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

He even provided his first highlight reel jam during a tense fourth quarter.

It was the type of performance that provides a sharp reminder of what he can bring to a team. Alternatively, is it that surprising that he was in a position to thrive with LeBron out of the lineup.

Fair to say this will continue to be a talking point as the Lakers work through some early chemistry issues.
