Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal to miss Tokyo Olympics, USA Basketball announces

Bradley Beal will no longer play in the Tokyo Olympics, USA Basketball has announced.

On Wednesday, Shams Charania and Joe Vardon of The Athletic broke the news that the Washington Wizards star had entered health and safety protocols at Team USA camp. At the time, Beal's return to play was reportedly up in the air.

Beal participated in Team USA's training camp and appeared in three exhibition games, averaging 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 29.0 minutes of play.

USA Basketball added that a roster replacement will be named at a later date.

Team USA is in Group A with France, Iran and Czech Republic at the Tokyo Olympics. They are scheduled to play their first game on Sunday, July 25 (ET) against France, followed by Iran on July 28 and Czech Republic on July 31.
