When is the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery?

On May 1, the NBA announced that the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery and Draft Combine, which was slated for later that month, was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Three months later, it appears as though a date has been set.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the league intends to conduct a virtual lottery with 14 team representatives on August 20.

When the league first released its restart plan in early June, they made it clear how the 14 lottery teams would be selected for the lottery. The 14 teams would include the eight that weren't invited to the season restart in Orlando and the six that were invited but didn't make the playoffs. They will then be seeded and assigned lottery odds based on their records on March 11, when the season was suspended.

Part of the league's restart plan was the tentative date for the 2020 NBA Draft of October 16.
