The NBA and NBA Players Association today announced that LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers landed in the top spots of the NBA's Most Popular Jersey and Team Merchandise lists during the 2020 NBA Restart.

The results are based on global NBAStore.com sales from July 30 to Sept. 28.

In his 17th season, 35-year-old LeBron James remains as one of the league's most popular players. After earning the distinction of the leading vote-getter at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game in February, James finds himself atop the list of most jersey sales.

The future of the league is bright, as Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic and Ja Morant are all 25 or younger and find themselves among the top 15.

Also worth noting is the popularity of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Curry's Warriors failed to qualify for the NBA restart, Durant and Irving were unable to participate in the restart with the Nets due to injury. That they are each on the list gives an idea of fans' anticipation for their return in the 2020-21 season.

Anthony Davis (third) and Jimmy Butler (10th) are the other two participants in the 2020 NBA Finals that are on the list.

Top 10 Most Popular Team Merchandise

Rank Team
1. Los Angeles Lakers
2. Boston Celtics
3. Chicago Bulls
4. Miami Heat
5. Golden State Warriors
6. Toronto Raptors
7. Dallas Mavericks
8. Milwaukee Bucks
9. Portland Trail Blazers
10. Denver Nuggets

It comes as not much of a surprise that the teams with the most NBA championships in league history come in at the top two spots.

The Lakers, who have won 16 titles, look to tie the Celtics record of 17 as they prepare to take on the Heat in the 2020 NBA Finals.

Speaking of Miami, it finds itself at fourth behind Chicago, the highest-ranking non-playoff team on the list. In addition to the Bulls, the Warriors are the other team that failed to qualify for the postseason – and NBA Restart – that fall in the top 10.

Coming in at sixth place are the Raptors, who served as the league's longest defending champion before falling in seven games in the East Semis to the Boston Celtics. Despite not having a player in the top 15 of jersey sales list, Toronto's brand holds strong, as evidenced by the numbers.

Rounding out the top 10 are Doncic's Mavs, Giannis' Bucks, Dame's Blazers and Jokic's Nuggets.

Chicago and Toronto are the only two teams that are in the top 10 of most popular merchandise despite not having a player in the top 15 of jersey sales.
