Zach LaVine has entered health and safety protocols and will not travel with Team USA to Tokyo on Monday, USA Basketball has announced.

USA Basketball added that it hopes the Chicago Bulls All-Star will be able to join the team later this week.

LaVine is coming off of a season in which he averaged 27.4 points per game and was named an All-Star for the first time in his NBA career.

LaVine appeared in Team USA's final exhibition game ahead of the Olympics, scoring 13 points in their win over Spain on Sunday.

USA Basketball announced last week that Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal won't be able to participate in the Tokyo Olympics after he was placed in health and safety protocols. Additionally, Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant entered the team's health and safety protocols "out of an abundance of caution," but he is expected to be cleared from quarantine and travel with Team USA to Tokyo, per ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Team USA is in Group A with France, Iran and Czech Republic at the Tokyo Olympics. They are scheduled to play their first game on Sunday, July 25 (ET) against France, followed by Iran on July 28 and Czech Republic on July 31.
