James Borrego, the first Hispanic full-time head coach in NBA history
On May 10th, the Charlotte Hornets named Spurs assistant coach James Borrego as the teams new head coach, making him the first Hispanic full-time head coach in NBA history. Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Borrego spent seven seasons with the Spurs and was part of two NBA Championship teams in 2005 and 2007.
