On June 13, 1989: Pistons sweep Lakers to win 1st title
The Detroit Pistons completed a Finals sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers with a 105-97 Game 4 victory, winning the first NBA title in franchise history. The team was known for their tenacious defense and featured among others future NBA Hall of Famers Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman and the 1989 Finals MVP Joe Dumars.
